Drop 1 outerwear has you covered for whatever the spring/summer can throw at you. The Marsu Jacket is the more formidable all-weather jacket, while the Hooded UC is the more casual sportswear influenced popover with some hidden surprises.

For the Marsu's exterior fabric, we bonded our own waterproof breathable three layer fabric using polytricot mesh, a 12K waterproof breathable membrane and a 100% nylon abrasion resistant face fabric. All three of the front pockets have large darts to add to their carrying capacity. The jacket is named “Marsu” because of its carrying capacity. Marsupial being the long form name of the jacket referencing animals that can carry their young around in their pouch.

The large front flap pocket utilizes heavy fusible to create a stiff flap that hides a Japanese spec Sun Grip snap fastener. The same fusible forms the hood brim which will retain its shape to provide sun shade. Removing the external placket from the front of the Marsu, we choose to use a YKK aqua guard zip at center front.

The jacket features placketed armpit zippers to allow for airflow on humid days. Non-porous seam tape is used on all of our 3 layer jackets because we’ve found that it has the least chance of delaminating after extensive wear. This season the Marsu Jacket comes in Sky Blue & Black and retails for $395 USD.

Also new to the outerwear line-up for SS20 is the lightweight Hooded UC Jacket. Not to be confused with the UC Jacket from SS19, the Hooded UC Jacket is a simple windbreaker popover, made from a dense typewriter cloth with custom metal mesh armpit grommets for improved breathability and comfort.

The design of the jacket is inspired from the field crews and groundskeepers that play a key role in our seasonal creative direction. This type of jacket, usually made with a utilitarian fabric to protect against all elements and emblazoned with tackle twill team logos, we refined the jacket using a natural fiber main body fabric and embellished with a simple bone logo embroidery.

The exterior of the jacket is made from a dense typewriter cloth, with a crisp taffeta combo fabric at the hem, hood, and chest placket. We sourced large 3/4" matte finished tonal press snaps and a smooth zip action YKK vislon center front zipper at the neck for a secure closure. The packable hood at the collar features molded pull-tabs for a custom fit, and comes in a lighter contrasting color.

To complete the garment, we added a large velcro closure front pouch pocket as a catchall, velcro adjustable stretch rib cuffs to anchor the sleeves, and an adjustable cord lock at the waist hem for easy on and off access. The jacket is finished with a AS bone logo chest embroidery as a subtle nod to vintage Major League Baseball teams. This season the UC Hooded Jacket comes in Evergreen and Dark Navy, and retails for $235 USD.
