As the weather starts to turn, we naturally find ourselves transitioning out of pants and jackets and into more weather-permitting shorts and t-shirts. The new day to day of working from home has contributed to a casual shift in wardrobe as well.
Drop 2 shorts are in close keeping with Adsum's ethos. We like to design and produce clothes with versatility, practicality and wearability, qualities that lead the charge with these two styles that can be worn while working on the couch or going for your lunch break jog.
First, is a Plaid iteration of our Bank Short. Composed using the same water-resistant seersucker as our Plaid Breaker Jacket, these shorts offer a lightweight breezy option of a silhouette we’ve all come to be familiar with. The plaid Bank Short comes outfitted with an elasticated waistband, added snap button and zip fly closure that coincides nicely with the relaxed fit of the short. We decided to offer this style in Dark Navy plaid as well as a Grape plaid, if you’re looking for a more standout color in our SS20 Bank Short range.
Up second is our Site Short, which has been around since SS18. We’ve been making continuous improvements on the short since its inception. This silhouette is subtle on the surface, but as you look closer you’ll find features that allude to reasons why this style in our spring/summer rotation. This season sees the Site Short equipped with the same 100% nylon taslan used on the SS20 UC Jacket. The side pockets are finished with tonal YKK Vislon zippers that help to store and secure personal items. The front zippered pockets are lined with mesh on one side. This allows for added drainage if you decide to take the shorts for a dip, which we highly recommend. The 6.5” inseam speaks towards a balance between the traditional running “short” short and a more casual every day short block.
On the top half are our t-shirts, some of which are embellished with seasonal designs that help to highlight the direction and inspiration behind the collection as a whole. The others are crafted using custom stripe pitches and a new Jacquard check construction.
Our Drop 2 graphics pull inspiration from classic rubber stamp logos and sports scripts. The aptly named Stamp Tee graphic references old rubber stamp logos that were commonplace for merchants dating back hundreds of years. The Script Tee logo speaks to our appreciation of preppy sports-inspired insignias. Both graphics are applied to seasonally-colored 250gsm combed cotton t-shirts.
Aside from graphic tees, we like to keep a range of striped t-shirts each season. We appreciate their ability to be worn on their own as well as layered under buttondowns or jackets. This season we’ve got two different custom milled stripes. Our Candy Stripe tee is constructed out of bold seasonal rainbow stripe pitch that repeats over the whole block of the shirt and features side vents at the waist hem along with a white Adsum embroidery on the left chest.
The Double Stripe tee offers a more subtle stripe design. Mint/Evergreen and Navy/Watermelon pitches made it into our seasonal color palette and add a nice pop to the white base of the shirt.
Our Jacquard Pique Tee stood out during the development process because of the fabric variation that takes place throughout the check pattern. If you look close, there are Pique checks that repeat simultaneously after each Jersey check. This creates a super unique texture while also adding subtle color variation when you zoom out from the shirt. Our Pique Tee is a unique twist on a traditional pique style. Offered in Sherbert and White and featuring a tonal Adsum embroidery.
