Woven cut and sew shirt styles are an important core product offering for Adsum. We consider them to be like dairy from one of the five food groups. We find that the practicality, durability and wearability of workshirts provide a piece that is easy to grab out of your closet, wear comfortably during quarantine days at home or while performing a task that requires a durable layer. On the other hand is our Premium Buttondown, which is our take on an oxford with a more laid back and relaxed fit. A classic silhouette that is cut with casualness in mind.
For Drop 2, we’ve developed two colorways of our Workshirt in a custom seasonal plaid pitch we call “Big Plaid”. Big Plaid is a sturdy spring weight double brushed fabric that comes in two season-specific colors. The first is a more restrained Dark Navy that includes Azure and Brown stripes that provide pop and contrast on top of the Dark Navy base. Second is a brighter Watermelon colorway that sports the same Azure and Brown stripes cutting through the bright Watermelon base color. Both colorways include custom tonal two hole 18L buttons with “97N7” laser etching, which is an homage to our brick and mortar store at 97 North 7th St in Williamsburg, BK. The seams are finished using flat fell chain stitching and heavy thread tex to add strength and durability to the seams.
Our Premium buttondowns are offered in three variations for Drop 2—Monogram Oxford, Uneven Stripe and Acid Wash Tattersall. All of our Premium Buttondowns feature custom laser etched trocas shell buttons, a left chest patch pocket, flat fell chain stitched seams, a split back yolk and a classic collar point.
The Monogram Oxford style is our idea of a classic oxford, but cut with a fit that is easier to wear day to day in many different occasions. Made out of a dense Oxford cloth, this shirt is made to be worn heavily and break in over time. We’ve added a tonal “AS” bone logo embroidery under the patch pocket, which honors some of our favorite LL Bean shirts we’ve thrifted that include past owners initials or random insignias embroidered on the chest of the shirt. The Monogram Oxford is offered in Sky Blue and Lemon.
Our Striped Oxford buttondown takes plain oxford cloth and re-interpretes it using an undulating vertical stripe pitch. If you look closely, the stripes taper and get thinner as you move from left to right or vice versa, which is a more modern interpretation of a normal striped buttondown. From a distance it almost looks like the shirt has groups of thick stripes running throughout the fabric. This style comes in a muted Stone and Sherbert for SS20.
Lastly, we have the Acid Wash Tattersall buttondown. Tattersall is a timeless pitch that is composed of evenly spaced vertical and horizontal stripes that create squares throughout the fabric. We tend to enjoy taking lasting fabrics and silhouettes and adding our personal touch to them. For this shirt, we tossed the fabric into a natural enzyme wash bath, which ended up giving the colors of each shirt a more worn in look with some color variation taking place throughout the tattersal pitch.
