Our flagship outerwear pieces are made to shield you from all wet weather. We’ve cut no corners to provide you with exceptional jackets that use three layer fabric technology and seam taping to keep out the elements.
The Saratoga Jacket
Saratoga, NY is noteworthy for a few reasons. Our friends at Oi Polloi shed light on how it is hallowed ground to an important battle in the American Revolutionary War. Geographically, it sits north east from New York City and is the gateway into the Adirondack Mountains, where you’ll find some of the most beautiful rugged north-eastern geography. Lastly, it’s home of the Saratoga Race Course which is considered by many to be the oldest sporting venue of any kind in the United States.
Also, Saratoga is the home of Matt Petruccione who recently joined the Adsum team. We named this new ¾ length jacket after the birthplace of Matt. He’s a quick study, a fantastic basketball player and tabled a bunch of design ideas for this jacket.
The Saratoga is our flagship Spring Summer outerwear piece but can easily handle year round weather. It’s best used during the worst wet weather days.
We sourced a Japanese three layer fabric from one of the most technologically advanced mills in the world. They supply fabric for many outerwear companies, some of our favorite Japan outerwear brands.
The Saratoga Jacket’s fabric has a waterproof rating of 20,000MM. This means that the fabric stays waterproof under a 1”x1” water column filled with 20,000MM of water. That’s roughly a 65 foot column of water on the face of the fabric before any water passes through the fabric while still allowing water vapor to escape from the inside of the jacket. It will withstand heavy rain, snow and high pressure. It’s world class.
We used YKK zips, Bemis taping to seam seal the interior of the jacket and custom matte tin snaps with our logo debossed on them.
The Full Zip Anorak
Constructed from the same fabric as the Saratoga jacket it’s a shorter style more suited for outdoor activities. The block comes from one of the first outerwear pieces that we made during our SS16 season which was a popover Anorak style. It was a style that helped Adsum enter the outerwear space.
It pushed Adsum to find outerwear production facilities that couldn’t be found in the garment district of Manhattan. We tweaked the original popover style to have a full zip front entry and snap closure hand pockets. The jacket comes with AquaGuard® YKK zips in a matte finish. We think it is a style that will stick around at Adsum for a while. It will probably do the same in your front hall coat closet.Shop SS18 Outerwear
