While Barbera and Moscato are Italian grape varietals, Chianti is a region in Italy. Starting with Barbera, it comes in behind Sangiovese and Montepulciano as Italy’s most planted grape varietal. Easily mistaken as your aunts name, it’s a grape that has deep color, full body and low tannins.
Moscato grape varietals on the other hand are known for sweet floral aromas and are popular in making sparkling Italian wines.
Hannibal Lecter famously ate someone’s liver with fava beans and a nice Chianti. It may have been chosen by Hannibal due to tasting notes that reminisce tart cherries and pair best with food.
