Summer 2021 Outerwear
NYC’s summers are humid and for the most part do not require a lot of outerwear. The Camp Hero Vest and Caliper Jacket help to bridge transition seasons in and out of summer as well as dealing with typical Northeast summer elements through the summer months.
The Camp Hero Vest took a good amount on tinkering to get to wear it is now. During early stage development we had sampled it in our crinkle nylon from the Effo short but the fabric made the vest feel too casual, maybe even a bit too retro for what we had in our heads. By using the 90/10 4 way stretch fabric which can also be found on the soon to be rereleased Camp Hero Short, we were able to keep the exterior of the vest and the overall appearance clean. The front and back yolk seams are barely noticeable with a clean single top stitch.
Zippered hand pockets are hidden behind an opening that floats along both front side seams. Our chest pocket was designed with running in mind so a cell phone or keys aren’t bouncing around near your waistline. Not having the chest pocket set into the garment helps with reducing zipper snags. We’re quite happy with the initial development of the Camp Hero Vest and already have it placed in upcoming seasons which gives us the opportunity to continue to tinker with the design and take it new levels.
Calipers are measuring devices or the “squeezers” on modern disc brakes. Thinking back on it, we’re not sure why we named to Caliper Jacket after a car brake component. Maybe it has to do with having the ability to stop light wind and rain. Our Caliper Jacket looks like a simple sew on the inside of the jacket but in order to get a clean interior finish with french seams things basically have to be folded and stitched twice. French seam construction adds more water repellency to a jacket but can’t keep out high pressure water exposure like sitting in a snow bunker for hours or getting sprayed by a fire hose.
Model is 6'3" and 170 lbs and wears larges in tops & bottoms.
