A standout fabric for SS19 is the Italian poplin we used for this season's Spinner Jacket and Bucket Hat. The orange color is bright & summery, it’s water repellent giving it some performance, but it also has a hidden secret. Not immediately noticeable to the eye, this poplin has fine glass particles woven directly into the fabric that reflect light. A little bit of style, a little bit of performance, and a little bit of tech, even before we applied it to anything.
The Spinner Jacket traces its origins back to SS16, but we’ve made a few tweaks and improvements since then. Most apparent is the addition of a pair of snap-fastening front flap pockets with Japanese Sun Tenac™ snaps. The snaps are carried over onto the cuffs and we removed the drawcord from the waist giving it a cleaner finish. The final touch is a reworked hood and neck tunnel that’s more well balanced. Finishes include a tonal direct embroidery, YKK zipper, and color matched flat hood drawcords.
New to SS19 is our first bucket hat style. It’s a wide brim shape meant to be more function than style. The wide brim effectively blocks the sun and the lightweight breathable fabric helps you stay cool. It features a heat transfer contrast logo hit on the front, a black under-brim to reduce glare, and a toggle lock drawcord to keep it in place during activity.
Both styles are inspired by sailing and we tried to stay true to the sport and performance inspiration while making highly wearable pieces you can reach back to time and time again.
